How does the surrogacy work?
Step-by-Step Explanation of the Process of Surrogacy
Becoming an egg donor is a rewarding and new experience filled with questions for many. When you’re interested in helping a couple grow their family and are seeking competitive financial compensation, you will receive complete guidance.
Initial Consultation
You'll have an initial meeting with a surrogacy agency or intended parents to discuss your interest in becoming a surrogate.
Submit Application
After expressing interest, you'll complete and submit a detailed application form, providing information about your background, lifestyle, medical history, and motivations for becoming a surrogate.
Pre-screening
The agency conducts thorough pre-screening, which includes interviews, background checks, and obtaining medical records. This process ensures that you meet the agency's eligibility criteria and are suitable for surrogacy.
Matching
Once pre-screened, the agency will match you with intended parents based on compatibility, preferences, and medical histories. An online meeting will be arranged for you and the intended parents to get to know each other and discuss expectations.
Medical Screening
You'll undergo comprehensive medical screening, including a review of your medical records and a physical examination at the intended parents' IVF clinic. This typically occurs about 7-12 days after the start of your menstrual cycle. Additionally, you'll undergo an online psychological screening. Upon passing, you'll receive medical clearance from the IVF clinic, indicating that you're medically qualified to proceed.
Legal Agreements
Intended parents' legal representation will draft a surrogacy agreement within a week of medical clearance. Your legal representation will review and negotiate the agreement to protect your rights and interests. Legal fees are covered by the intended parents. After signing and notarizing the agreement, you'll receive legal clearance. As a gesture of appreciation, you'll receive a $1000 bonus within 5 working days of signing the contract.
Medical Protocol
Once legally cleared, you'll begin preparations for IVF medication as per the medical protocol provided by the IVF clinic. Strict adherence to medication will enhance the chances of a successful pregnancy. You'll receive a $1000 bonus within 5 working days of starting the medication.
Embryo Transfer
The embryo transfer procedure will take place at the IVF clinic, with all associated costs covered by the intended parents. You'll receive a $1000 bonus within 5 working days after the transfer as a token of appreciation.
Pregnancy Monitoring
Approximately 12 days after the embryo transfer, blood tests will confirm pregnancy. Around 26 days after the transfer, fetal heart monitoring will confirm the heartbeat. From the start of the second month after confirmation of heartbeat, you'll receive monthly base compensation. Until officially discharged from the IVF clinic, you'll continue medication and external monitoring.
Legal Parentage
Legal proceedings will establish the intended parents' legal parentage, ensuring that the child is legally theirs.
Birth and Delivery
Throughout pregnancy, you'll undergo routine prenatal care, including NIPT and comprehensive fetal anomaly scans. Upon delivery, you'll be compensated for all associated costs by the intended parents.
Post-Birth Support
After delivery, you'll receive ongoing support from the surrogacy agency or intended parents, including emotional support, counseling, and assistance with any post-birth issues or concerns.
By following these detailed steps, you’ll not only be assisting intended parents in fulfilling their dream of parenthood but also experiencing the rewarding journey of surrogacy.
- Become Surrogate
How It Works to Become a Surrogate?
Surrogate education refers to the process of providing comprehensive information and guidance to surrogate mothers and intended parents about the surrogacy journey. This includes legal procedures, medical processes, emotional support, and ethical considerations involved in surrogacy.
Surrogate education is crucial because it ensures all parties involved are fully informed about the expectations, risks, and rewards of the surrogacy process. It helps in making informed decisions, preparing for potential challenges, and fostering a positive, transparent relationship between the surrogate and the intended parents.
Surrogate education programs typically cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
- The medical procedures involved in surrogacy, such as IVF and embryo transfer
- Legal rights and responsibilities of surrogate mothers and intended parents
- Emotional and psychological support for surrogates and intended parents
- Health and wellness guidance for surrogate mothers during pregnancy
- Financial aspects and compensation for surrogacy
Surrogate education is often provided by surrogacy agencies, fertility clinics, and legal professionals specializing in reproductive law. Some non-profit organizations and support groups also offer educational resources and workshops for surrogates and intended parents.
Intended parents benefit from surrogate education by gaining a deeper understanding of the surrogacy process, which helps manage their expectations and prepares them for the emotional journey ahead. It also equips them with the knowledge to support their surrogate effectively and make informed decisions throughout the process.
Post-birth support for surrogates can include counseling, medical care, and peer support groups. Many surrogacy agencies offer continued support to ensure the surrogate’s physical and emotional well-being is looked after following the delivery.
